DrugNews: Growing Number of Lawsuits Allege Injuries From Mirena IUDs

DrugNews: Growing Number of Lawsuits Allege Injuries From Mirena IUDs

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 05, 2013

The birth control center at DrugNews.net is alerting women using the Mirena IUD contraceptive device of new information on the site. A federal judicial panel has released updated court records showing the number of lawsuits alleging the devices caused perforation injuries has risen over 29% in less than a month*.

The DrugNews Center was created to improve patient safety by giving those using popular prescription drugs or medical devices access to the latest safety alerts, recalls, studies and legal news. Visitors can see if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.

The resource center contains warnings from health experts about possible injury from Mirena IUDs. The FDA has previously advised that patients can suffer perforation of reproductive organs during device implantation**.

DrugNews has also added a study from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons which warns Mirena IUDs can become dislodged and perforate the uterine wall after installation***. FDA records show the agency has received 70,072 reports of Mirena side effects, with as many as 6,000 involving device dislocation or uterus perforation****.

Due to the number of patients filing a Mirena lawsuit, federal cases have been consolidated to a special multi-district litigation court in New York (In Re: Mirena IUD Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2434, Southern District New York).

Now, the latest court records show the number of cases being filed has increased over 29% in the past month, from 123 on August 15th to 159 on September 11th*. Judge Seibel, who is overseeing the federal litigation, has ordered parties to select test cases by April 4, 2014*****.

Anyone who suffered perforation or required surgery while using a Mirena IUD is urged to speak with a lawyer about their legal options. However, DrugNews only recommends lawyers who are already handling Mirena lawsuits.

For more information on the research, side effects and litigation news related to Mirena or other birth control devices, or to speak with a lawyer, visit http://www.DrugNews.net.

A Plus Warehouse Announces Delivery Truck Strip Door as Product of the Day

A Plus Warehouse Announces Delivery Truck Strip Door as Product of the Day

Delivery Truck Strip Door

Nashville,Tennessee (PRWEB) August 27, 2013

Today is the one-year anniversary of a very popular product offered at A Plus Warehouse. This product is the delivery truck strip door. This is why the company is naming this item product of the day. A Plus Warehouse uses product of the day as an opportunity to emphasize different products the company has to offer. Customers always enjoy learning about new products that they didn't even know were available. Ever since the delivery truck strip door had been added to the website, it was an instant hit. According to Ed Stairman, president of A Plus Warehouse, "1 year ago we added many new products to the website. Out of all the products we added, the delivery struck strip door was most popular."

As Ed mentioned, this product was added with many new products. All of the products added were strip doors. Although the delivery truck strip door is the most popular, the other products are great as well. Products in the strip door section include but are not limited to personnel strip doors, forklift strip doors, high wind strip doors, and bulk rolls. When ordering a strip door, customers have many options. First of all, customers must consider the thickness. Having .180 thickness is ideal for people but unsuitable for forklifts. On that same token .250 is ideal for forklifts but not so much for people. This feature goes hand and hand with overlap. More overlap is perfect for forklifts where less is more suitable for people. Every customer has different needs and A Plus Warehouse takes pride in fulfilling these needs. If customers need help deciding what type of strip door to order, they shouldn't be afraid to ask. A Plus Warehouse sales people do not bite!

It is now time to discuss the best strip door of all, the delivery truck strip door. This product prevents 80 to 90% of air loss. It also prevents spoilage by maintaining temperature. Every trucker needs a delivery truck strip door. Standard strips have temperatures ranging from -10 to 150 degrees. However, low temperature strips are also available. These strips range from -40 to 150. Customers should order their delivery truck strip door.

A Plus Warehouse is the operator of http://www.apluswhs.com and distributes materials handling and storage equipment nationwide and throughout Canada. The sales staff at A Plus Warehouse is available at 800-209-8798. A Plus Warehouse has been in constant operation since 1996.

Longmont, CO (PRWEB) August 28, 2013

BrightSpot Solutions, LLC, a product invention and development business, is proud to announce the celebration of its 10th anniversary this month. This anniversary marks a significant milestone in the company's success.

"The past 10 years have been filled with successes, achievements, challenges, and new product development," said Scott Salzman, President and founder of BrightSpot. "We have grown quickly and are proud of our achievements," Salzman added.

From its origins in a two-bedroom apartment, BrightSpot now maintains a 2400 sq. ft. warehouse for its products. When asked about his company's beginnings, Salzman stated, "In the first year, delivery trucks would leave product in the lawn of my apartment complex. I hired my neighbor to help me carry boxes to my second-floor apartment. Now a forklift unloads semi-trailers full of product."

Spotless Paw® Dog Paw Cleaning Glove – an award winning product – was BrightSpot Solutions' first product. In less than two years, this product was taken from idea conception through to the sale of rights. It was featured in several major national media outlets within the first year of its release to the market.

NFI Recognized as a 75 Green Supply Chain Partner by Inbound Logistics for 2013

NFI Recognized as a 75 Green Supply Chain Partner by Inbound Logistics for 2013

Cherry Hill, N.J. (PRWEB) September 25, 2013

NFI, a leading supply chain company headquartered in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, is pleased to be recognized as a 75 Green Supply Chain Partner for 2013 by Inbound Logistics. Over 200 transportation and logistics companies completed the questionnaire about their sustainability efforts. This is NFI's fourth consecutive year being selected as a Green Supply Chain Partner.

Since 2004, NFI has participated in the EPA SmartWay Transport Partner Program; with Social Responsibility as one of six core values, NFI is committed to creating a positive impact on its carbon footprint by protecting the health and safety of NFI's people, ensuring the integrity of the environment, and being active in the community.

Inbound Logistics selected NFI for this prestigious award because of many sustainability efforts, including outfitting tractors and trailers, the NFI Fit Fleet, with SmartWay-certified tires, computer-regulated speed governors, biofuel, synthetic oil, automatic tire inflation systems, and electric standby motors on refrigerated trailers. A sophisticated recycling program is in place for the Fit Fleet, where items such as tires, electronics, batteries, metals, and waste oil and fluids are recycled through EPA-registered recycling companies. NFI has also been growing its natural gas fleet to further integrate sustainability practices company-wide.

Across the 20+ million sq. ft. of NFI's warehouse space across the country, propane powered forklifts are in use, and plastic wrap materials usage has been reduced by 57 percent per pallet by using high-stretch film which reduces the weight per case and plastic waste. There is also an extensive recycling program integrated across all warehouses.

Within NFI's business lines, the intermodal division has contributed to sustainability through double-stacking containers which creates better fuel efficiency. Improvements in refrigerated container technology and increased payload weight are some of NFI's other advancements.

In addition to being recognized as a Top Green Supply Chain Partner, NFI's commitment to sustainability can also be seen through numerous other awards received including the EPA SmartWay Award, the International Communitas Award Winner for Green Initiatives, and the Stevies International Business Award for Environmental Responsibility.

US Electric Transmission & Distribution Equipment Market

US Electric Transmission & Distribution Equipment Market

London (PRWEB) October 01, 2013

US demand to climb 4.8% annually through 2017

US demand for electric transmission and distribution (T&D) equipment is forecast to climb 4.8 percent annually to $ 30.4 billion in 2017, accelerating from the 2007-2012 period, when product sales in every major market for these products slowed. The rising utilization of renewable energy sources in electricity generation will drive market growth, as new installations will require a significant amount of equipment to transmit power along the electric grid. Independent power producers' (IPPs) and nonutility generators' (NUGs) expanding share of electricity generation will also stimulate gains since -- similar to the use of renewable energy sources -- connecting new operations to the grid will require a significant investment in electric T&D equipment. In addition, the continued adoption of "smart" technologies will provide growth opportunities as the electric grid is updated with efficiency and reliability in mind.

Electric utility market to remain dominant

Historically, electric utilities have been the largest customers for electric T&D equipment, and this will continue to be true. Despite below-average growth, the result of a deceleration in electric utility capital expenditures, this market will represent over half of all product demand in 2017. However, the industrial and nonutility generator market will post larger gains in percentage terms, supported by the growing importance of IPPs and NUGs. The greatest sales increases in this sector will be for switchgear products such as power circuit breakers and power switching equipment. Advances will reflect heavy investment by these firms to protect sensitive industrial machinery and connect new facilities to the grid. In 2017, industrial and nonutility generator demand will account for one-third of all electric T&D equipment sales.

Residential market to be fastest growing segment

The residential market is expected to post the greatest gains in percentage terms through 2017 after struggling between 2002 and 2012. Sales advances will be spurred by a marked rebound in residential construction expenditures and regulatory changes requiring increased use of arc-fault circuit interrupters. The commercial market is also projected to record above-average growth as commercial construction activity recovers and use of sensitive electronics like computers and security systems continues to climb.

Government and institutional product demand will rise at the slowest pace of any major market due to ongoing efforts to reduce federal budget deficits.

Electric meters, nonutility transformers to pace gains

Electric meters and nonutility transformers are expected to register the fastest sales increases of any electric T&D equipment product. The ongoing development of the "smart grid" and related demand for "smart meters" (which cost about twice as much as traditional electric meters) will help spur meter value gains. The rising popularity of distributed generation and net metering programs -- which require meters to read electricity inflows and outflows -- as well as the labor cost savings associated with usage of smart meters, will also fortify demand. Other products that will experience sizable sales growth through 2017 include molded case circuit breakers, nonutility transformers, and power circuit breakers, supported by expansion of the industrial and nonutility generator market.

Study coverage

Details of these and other findings are presented in Electric Transmission & Distribution Equipment, an upcoming Freedonia industry study priced at $ 5100. It offers historical demand data for 2002, 2007 and 2012, plus forecasts for 2017 and 2022 by product and market. The study also assesses market environment factors, evaluates company market share, and profiles 35 US industry competitors.
