Jungheinrich's EKS 110 Vertical Order Picker Combines Superior Performance And Exceptional Operator Ergonomics With Low Energy Consumption

Jungheinrich's EKS 110 Vertical Order Picker Combines Superior Performance And Exceptional Operator Ergonomics With Low Energy Consumption

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) March 14, 2008

Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp., a world-leading 'green' manufacturer of eco-friendly AC-powered electric lift trucks, introduces the EKS 110 Vertical Order Picker, a truck that facilitates fast and versatile order picking. With four lift height options to choose from, this vehicle allows operators to efficiently pick stocked items from the first, second or third level of racking and place them in a box or on a pallet to complete the order.

With the "L" version of the EKS 110, the platform and load section can be raised to a height of 118 inches, allowing individual items to be picked from heights up to 15 feet. As a result, order picking is possible up to the third level of racking. The truck's auxiliary lift or "Z" version, which allows the forks to be positioned at the perfect height for the operator, is a configuration in which an extra set of controls has been added on the fork side of the platform. It allows the operator to position and handle goods in an ergonomically-safe way to eliminate injuries. Lifting capacity is rated at 2200 lbs. and, thanks to its stable, counterbalanced design, low center of gravity and wide range of fork configurations, the EKS 110 can pick up pallets or crates both longitudinally and crosswise.

The vehicle's handling has been optimized, with travel and lift controls designed to allow for a faster pick rate and operation. The EKS' platform raises and lowers smoothly due to the modulation of the hydraulic pump and valves, and its Speed Control system provides precise control of travel speed for various applications. What's more, the operator can choose from three different travel programs, ranging from low, medium and high performance.

Ergonomic features include an angled steering wheel that reduces operator joint strain, easily accessible control buttons and master control handle, and a clear, logical control panel that displays all key operating data. In addition, the platform is cushioned for exceptional operator comfort.

The truck's 24-volt three-phase, Jungheinrich Proprietary AC-drive technology provides high torque under any load, as well as powerful acceleration, fast travel speeds and quick reversing without hesitation. And as a result of its design, the AC traction motor has no carbon brushes, brush springs or armature commutator to replace, significantly minimizing maintenance requirements on the vehicle and reducing operating costs over its life. The EKS 110 is a highly energy-efficient truck, using energy reclamation during braking. For convenience, the battery easily rolls out from the side when a change is necessary.

Optional equipment and design variations include a cold storage package, rail guidance, working and warning lights, radio data hookup, power supplies, rubber bumpers, additional controls for remote operation when picking and various operator platform widths and fork configurations.

For more information about the EKS 110 Vertical Order Picker, contact Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp., 5601 Eastport Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23231. Call: 804-737-7400. Fax: 804-737-7467. Or, visit the website at http://www.jungheinrich-us.com.

Wholesale Trucking Insurance Agency Sunforest Transportation Insurance Group Grows To $9 Million in Annual Premium Sales in Just 10 years

Wholesale Trucking Insurance Agency Sunforest Transportation Insurance Group Grows To $ 9 Million in Annual Premium Sales in Just 10 years

Toledo, Ohio (PRWEB) March 17, 2008

Toledo-based wholesale trucking insurance agency, Sunforest Transportation Insurance Group, Inc. (STIG), is celebrating its continued growth. The firm has seen annual premium sales grow to 9 million dollars over the past 10 years and STIG President Denny Schwartz, CIC, estimates that annual premium sales for 2008 will top $ 10,000,000.

The wholesale trucking insurance agency, which started operations in 1997 with two employees and a contract with one insurance market, now employs seven associates and works with more than 60 retail insurance brokers. STIG operates as a business to business wholesaler, (also referred by some as a Managing General Agent) of trucking insurance programs. The firm represents Sentry Select, Lancer Insurance Co., A.I.G., Lloyds of London, Lincoln General, Travelers and The Hartford.

According to Denny Schwartz, trucking insurance occupies a niche within the insurance industry. "Trucking Insurance is a low volume, high premium product that lends itself to risk that is very difficult to predict," he said. "Few insurance companies want to write coverage because of its volatility," he stated. Many truck specific insurance companies employ a specialty wholesaler like STIG to help complete the marketing and underwriting process of distributing their products. "STIG prides itself on its ability to accommodate and service the retail agent, whether or not that retail agent is a truck specialist," said Mr. Schwartz. "We are not unlike a business-to-business manufacturer's rep," he added. "We don't mind doing the heavy lifting," he said.

After more than 30 years in the trucking insurance industry, Denny Schwartz understands the importance of relationships. "Trucking Insurance is all about personal relationships. I have used my reputation as a knowledgeable professional in the Truck Insurance industry and my long time contacts in this small network to secure markets, develop confidence and instill trust in my clients, "he said. Some truckers prefer to buy from a local agent that they know and trust, whether that agent has truck specific knowledge or not. Sunforest Transportation Insurance Group, Inc. makes that possible. "We differ from retail insurance in that we deal with the retail insurance agent and not the end consumer," said Denny.

Sunforest Transportation Insurance Group, Inc. provides a range of services, including online education. Its website, http://www.stiginc.com, offers truck specific online training programs for retail brokers interested in learning how to sell trucking insurance. For more information about Sunforest Transportation Insurance Group, Inc. visit http://www.stiginc.com or call 888.283.3373.

Jungheinrich To Display Cutting-Edge Solutions At CeMat 2008

Jungheinrich To Display Cutting-Edge Solutions At CeMat 2008

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) May 3, 2008

Jungheinrich will showcase a number of significant new solutions related to warehouse logistics at CeMAT 2008. The expo, held on May 27-31 in Hannover, Germany, is the world's leading trade show for intralogistics and an audience of over 60,000 is expected to be on-hand to view the 1,000+ exhibits. Jungheinrich AG's cutting-edge technologies will be on display in two distinct areas at CeMAT: within the indoor exhibition arena at the company's 75,300 square foot booth (Nos. P33/P34) and at an adjacent outdoor exhibition area. At these displays, CeMAT visitors will be presented with a wide range of innovative Jungheinrich products, including forklift trucks, racking systems and services for internal logistics - plus the displays will be attended by a staff of nearly 250 Jungheinrich professionals.

Jungheinrich's overriding themes at CeMAT will be energy efficiency and drive technology. The centerpiece of the exhibits will be the company's "Concept 08," a vehicle based on a completely new energy storage and drive principle. Its futuristic battery technology permits a very compact design, leading to superior ergonomics and a completely new driving experience. Additionally, the efficient direct drive system in the "Concept 08" vehicle represents a further evolution of the highly effective and environmentally-friendly 3-phase AC technology already employed in almost all electric lift trucks manufactured by Jungheinrich.

"The technology in our concept vehicle could become a genuine alternative to the drives with hydrogen fuel cells that are still being researched," explains Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach, member of the Board of Management at Jungheinrich responsible for engineering. "It will save customers a lot of money in the future, as well as spare the environment."

The integrated approach taken by Jungheinrich in their concept vehicle entails both clever energy storage and efficient usage. A product of the basic development division of the company, the vehicle is expected to set a high standard for the entire industry. Later this year, Jungheinrich will also introduce the new chassis designs for its EFG electric 3-wheel and 4-wheel counterbalanced trucks with capacities up to 4000 lbs. These vehicles will encompass some of the technologies demonstrated in "Concept 08."

Also showcased for the first time at CeMAT will be Jungheinrich's EKX 513-515 high-rack turret trucks/man-up order pickers. These trucks are well-designed for the high logistics demands expected in the future. One impressive capability in particular is the presence of RFID (radio frequency identification) floor control, which enables greater speed, efficiency and safety in warehouse operations. Speeds can be adapted to suit a particular floor topology. Constant position measurement can be carried out for accurate recognition of all stock areas.

Trucks in the EKX 513-515 series have a carrying capacity of up to 3307 lbs. (1,500 kg) and are able to achieve lift heights of more than 49 ft. (15 m). Thanks to their 80-volt 3-phase AC technology, these vehicles represent performance at the "top end" of the narrow-aisle warehouse sector. Jungheinrich's modular system, with its numerous configuration options, make it possible to adapt this combination turret truck/order picker to almost any customer requirement already on the drawing board.

For more information on Jungheinrich's innovations on display at the CeMAT Trade Fair, contact Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp., 5601 Eastport Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23231. Call: 804-737-7400. Fax: 804-737-7467. Or, visit the website at http://www.jungheinrich-us.com.

New U.S. Council for Freight Efficiency Formed to "Reinvent Trucking"

New U.S. Council for Freight Efficiency Formed to "Reinvent Trucking"

San Francisco, Calif. (Vocus) October 3, 2009

Transportation efficiency experts from Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), in the midst of a three-day energy-efficiency conference in San Francisco on the theme of "reinventing fire," said they will turn next to helping reinvent the U.S. trucking industry.

Leaders of RMI's MOVE team will announce at the RMI2009 conference here that they are joining with industry leaders to found the U.S. Council for Freight Efficiency (USCFE), establishing a trustworthy "brand" that will be acknowledged throughout the U.S. freight transportation community as an acceptable, credible source for efficiency solutions.

They are inviting freight industry stakeholders, truck OEMs, component suppliers, technology providers, innovation engineering firms, policy makers, NGO's, and research institutes that are committed to a more profitable and sustainable industry to attend the inaugural meeting of the USCFE on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at the University of Chicago's Gleacher Center. Additional information and registration is available at the USCFE's website, freightefficiency.org.

"By creating a freight system shaped by accurate information, the industry can capitalize on enormous economic opportunities," said Hiroko Kawai, principal of RMI's MOVE team, whose name stands for mobility and vehicle efficiency. "Efficient operations can set the stage for innovative improvements that are profitable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable, in the long run."

Kawai acknowledged that "the freight industry, and the trucking industry in particular, has been burned by a snake-oil salesman approach to technology. There is a lack of trustworthy information evaluating different technologies for fleets to make investment decisions. The same challenges are also shared by producers of technologies; they cannot accelerate the market adoption of their R&D efforts, and it is hard for them to lead the market even when they offer the necessary innovations."

The vision of the Council for Freight Efficiency is to "drive the development and adoption of efficiency-enhancing, environmentally beneficial, and cost-effective technologies, services, and methodologies in the U.S. freight industry by establishing and communicating independent and performance-based standards." Its members will include truck manufacturers, component suppliers, fleets, independent owner-operators, and technology design and engineering firms, as well as state and federal policy makers.

The formation of the Council for Freight Efficiency is based upon direct industry requests received during RMI's Transformational Trucking Charrette (see original documents, video, and recorded press call here), at which a diverse group of trucking industry stakeholders met in Denver in April 2009 to discuss the barriers to, and opportunities presented by, doubling trucking efficiency – what it would take to drive just as much freight on half as much energy.

During that event, participants named three primary challenges that prevent efficiency improvements today:

Conflicting information from multiple sources regarding new, cost-effective efficiency technologies
Lack of translatable and customizable data (across all modes of operation)
A variety of incorrect or incomplete information (within and between end-users)
The lack of confidence in performance, and an ineffective proof-of-business case involving trucking efficiency solutions, results in most industry players currently viewing investments in these solutions as an unnecessary risk .

To address these challenges, RMI and its industry partners aim to create the foremost trusted source of technical and educational information on trucking efficiency technologies. USCFE will collect, assess, and circulate performance information from testing agencies and laboratories, collect marketing and user data, and provide understandable, up-to-date efficiency information to share with technology developers, Council members, fleet owners, and truck drivers.

"The future of trucking efficiency is already here, it's just not well distributed," said Kawai. "We just don't have our version of 'Consumer Reports' in trucking. And fleets won't invest in new technologies and new trucks unless they know for sure that they'll get the payback.

"This will help provide the evidence of real-world economic benefits, and ultimately accelerate market adoption of these technologies."

Additional information and registration is available at http://www.freightefficiency.org.
