Abel Womack Donates Lift Truck to Support Greater Boston Food Bank

Abel Womack Donates Lift Truck to Support Greater Boston Food Bank

Lawrence, MA (PRWEB) February 1, 2009

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is a non-profit relief agency that distributes millions of pounds of food per year to many agencies serving hungry Americans across Massachusetts. They have almost completed construction of a new 117,000 SF distribution center, scheduled to open later this year, to better serve the needs of the kitchens and shelters who receive the food.

With their existing material handling equipment, the GBFB did not have a way to access the top levels of the taller racks in their new distribution center. Recognizing current budget constraints, Abel Womack donated the use of a new Raymond 400" reach truck built to GBFB specifications. As part of the package, the battery to run the truck as well as a year of free maintenance services was included.

"Considering that the Food Bank is literally keeping some of our less fortunate community members alive, this donation was pretty much a no-brainer," said John Croce, President and CEO of Abel Womack.

For nearly 100 years, Abel Womack, Inc. (http://www.abelwomack.com) has specialized in providing superior materials handling equipment, including Raymond lift trucks, carousels & conveyors as well as engineering design, implementation and product support services. Today, with a staff of over 200 employees across New England and Metro NY, Abel Womack provides solutions across a wide range of industries and clients including grocery, retail, apparel, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, parcel delivery, and third party logistics (3PL) firms.

Manitex Announces Jib-Jack as a Standard Feature in its 50-ton Machines with Jib Option and No-Free-Swing on all 50-ton Machines

Manitex--Moving Forward Faster

Georgetown, TX (PRWEB) December 19, 2008

Manitex Inc. has announced that it will now offer a jib-jack as a standard feature when ordering the 50-ton taxi-crane with optional jib. Manitex has also added a "no-free-swing" option for the 50-ton product for oil field service and power grid applications.

"Our 50-ton machines can be operated by a single person, and by offering the jib-jack as a standard value added feature, we provide quicker machine set up and lower operation and overhead costs. The no-free-swing option will also equip the operator with better control for coil tubing operations and specific power grid applications. The operator will have one less variable to deal with, and be able to focus more on the load and overall lift operations," explains Randy Robertson, Director of Sales and Marketing for Manitex.

Manitex has engineered the 50-ton taxi-crane to be a profitable and efficient machine, making it possible for small businesses and operations to perform various jobs in one day with low costs.

"We are actively pursuing improvements, and some become value added standard features as in this case. The jib-jack for the 50-tonner jib option and the no-free-swing option are more examples of Manitex expanding its versatility and increasing overall profitability for our end customers," concludes Randy Robertson.

Voice123 (voice123.com) Introduces Link Exchange Feature

Voice123 (voice123.com) Introduces Link Exchange Feature

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 16, 2007

Voice123 (http://voice123.com), the voice over marketplace where voice over talents promote their voice services and voice talent seekers find the best voices for their projects, introduced a link exchange feature that registered voiceover talents can use to promote their own websites.

Voice over actors that are subscribers of the Voice123 service get an online profile to promote their voice talent. This profile is a webpage that has a unique Internet address for each voice talent and showcases the voiceover actor's voice details, resume, voiceover demos, headshot, and location information. It is a useful tool to promote their voice and the place voice seekers go to learn about each talent.

Now, this online profile also has a link exchange feature that allows voice artists to place a link to their own website, if they have one, on their Voice123 webpage. This lets voice talent seekers visit the talent's website and get additional information. Voice123 explains the process of setting up the link exchange feature in three easy steps that can be found under the Link Exchange section of voice talents' accounts.

This feature is free and is available for both standard and premium subscribers of Voice123 (http://voice123.com). Although the set up of the link exchange feature is simple, Voice123 is also open to help customers in the process of setting it up.

New Product RAVAS iForks with integrated RFID reader all in one system on the CeMAT HANNOVER March 2011

iForks of RAVAS - full wireless

Buffalo Grove, IL (PRWEB) March 10, 2011

On the CeMAT Messe, RAVAS will introduce RFID iForks integrated in one WMS application. This combination of Mobile pallet weighing and pallet identification all integrated in one forklift truck will be a new extension of the RAVAS mobile weighing product line. Mobile weighing systems are scales integrated in forklift trucks, pallet trucks (pallet jacks), electric pallet trucks, stackers, order picking trucks and reach trucks. With mobile scales the weighing is done during transport, saving time, space and manpower. Weighing takes place where you want, creating maximum efficiency and flexibility in logistic applications. A mobile scale earns itself back within a short period of time. Mobile scales will make logistics cheaper and more efficient. Mobile scales will generate management information without errors, it will reduces receivers claims raising customers satisfactory and saving costs.

Mobile scales are an important tool throughout the transport and logistics industry, for error free order picking, for time efficient determining of shipping weights, for invoicing palletized express shipments and air cargo, for avoiding overloaded freight trucks.

Also the environmental industry uses mobile scales on board freight trucks to weigh collected waste at their clients site. Also part suppliers in the automotive industry use mobile scales to count parts in just-in-time deliveries. Even in military applications mobile weighing becomes a major tool to determine load distribution on cargo planes and helicopters.

More applications are in the following industries: Logistics 3PL – third party logistics: mobile scales are frequently used in contract logistics. Especially in order picking: reducing errors lowers cost per order line and raises client satisfaction, which might mean renewal of the contract or acquisition of new clients. Retail chains: Distribution centres in supermarket chains use scales on walkie and rider pallet trucks for checking incoming and outgoing goods and for correcting picking errors. Express logistics: Companies like FedEx, DHL and TNT are moving more and more palletized goods. These pallets do not pass over the automated conveyor belts, but need to be identified and weighed anyway, for planning and invoicing. They are usually weighed on the lift trucks that move them around the hubs.

Also Air freight is expensive and invoiced by weight, which is usually declared too low by the sender. Air freight companies weigh to optimize their profitability by post hoc invoicing and to ensure proper weight distribution on airplanes. Since these companies always work under time pressure (waiting planes are expensive), they use mobile scales on their lift trucks to minimize time losses.

Maintenance Managers Prefer KerberTech's New Maintenance Book Software for Maintenance Tracking and Management

Maintenance Managers Prefer KerberTech's New Maintenance Book Software for Maintenance Tracking and Management

Ankeny, IA (PRWEB) March 17, 2010

Maintenance Book is a customizable maintenance tracking web application from KerberTech that gives fleet and equipment managers a comprehensive and economical way to record and retrieve service and repair information. A study conducted from March until June 2009 by independent market research firm, Strategic Marketing Services in Cedar Falls, Iowa, shows that most organizations prefer Maintenance Book to their existing maintenance management systems.

Maintenance Book was created to provide businesses and agencies of all types and sizes an efficient way to keep their valuable inventory in peak condition and, as applicable, to realize a higher resale value when those capital items are retired. It provides the ability to log preventive maintenance and repair activities for an organization's vehicles and other equipment. It indicates when a service is due (or past due) and can generate a comprehensive report detailing the entire maintenance history of a given piece of equipment.

The first public announcement of the availability of Maintenance Book came at the EntreFest! entrepreneurship conference in West Des Moines, IA on February 25, 2010 where KerberTech's owner and president, Jake Kerber, spoke about the new maintenance tracking application and the benefits of market research.

In his presentation, Kerber detailed a recent market study which shows that most companies prefer the new application produced by KerberTech for maintenance management. Kerber concluded his presentation with, "the application's called 'Maintenance Book' and it just launched yesterday at http://www.KerberTech.com."

Strategic Marketing Services, an independent research firm, conducted the study referenced by Kerber. They determined that 57% of maintenance managers found KerberTech's Maintenance Book to be superior to their existing maintenance management system. Reasons sited by the survey respondents include: user friendliness, flexibility, simple navigation, amount of information accessible, ease of information access, easy setup, easily learned, and cost.

Maintenance managers from 134 organizations of all sizes were surveyed for the study – including organizations maintaining fewer than 10 pieces of equipment to others with over 250. They represented the following industries: trucking/transportation, manufacturing, construction, utility, rental, and government.

For more information about Maintenance Book go to http://www.KerberTech.com/MaintenanceBook.html. Global Tire Cord Market to Exceed 1.3 Million Metric Tons by 2015, According to a New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

Global Tire Cord Market to Exceed 1.3 Million Metric Tons by 2015, According to a New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) April 12, 2010

Tire cord is a shaped or twisted structure made out of single or more tiered strips of inorganic material, mainly steel or using organic polymers such as polyester, rayon or nylon. The cord facilitates in reinforcing a tire's rubber matrix. The tire reinforcement material or tire cord industry is directly dependent on the tire industry, performance of which is closely intertwined with the fate of the automobile industry. With the prolonged world economic recession taking its toll on automotive demand, demand patterns worldwide have been undergoing transformation with developed markets showing signs of distress, and the developing economies displaying minimal growth.

Led by the automobile boom in Asia-Pacific, particularly in China and India, the region represents the largest as well as the fastest growing market in Tire Cord sales as stated by the new market research report on Tire Cord market. Despite the dampener cast by the recession, the automotive industry in developing nations in the medium to long-term remains encouraging. The global economic recession in recent years hastened the geographic shift in the automobile industry, with the Asia-Pacific led by China and India emerging as the new powerhouse in the sector. Apart from providing a vast market, these countries are also proving cheaper production bases compared to the traditional markets in the Western Europe, the US and Japan.

Apart from China and India, the Latin American and Central European markets also hold much promise for the tire and tire cord industries. Stagnating growth in the Western European countries, vastly untapped market in the Central European countries and the cheaper availability of material resources as well as manpower is leading to the shifting of manufacturing bases to these countries.

The replacement tire market constitutes the major part of the tire cord industry, with the truck tires replacement forming the bulk of the demand. Apart from containing more amount of tire cord due to their size, truck tires, also are more frequently replaced because of regular and higher usage. Furthermore, more number of tires are deployed in trucks than in passenger vehicles.

Tire Cord market comprises of independent tire cord manufacturers as well as vertically integrated tire manufacturers. Key players profiled in the report include Century Enka Limited, CORDENKA GmbH, Formosa Taffeta Co. Ltd, Hyosung Corporation, Junma Tyre Cord Company Limited, Kolon Industries, Inc, Kordarna a.s., Kordsa Inc., Bekaert, SRF Limited, and Teijin Fibers Limited.

The report titled "Tire Cord: A Global Strategic Business Report" announced by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides review of industry overview, product overview, product introductions, recent industry activity and profiles of major players. The report analyzes market data and analytics in terms of annual sales in volume terms for regions including North America, Japan, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Rest of World. The report further analyzes the global market by following segments - Polyester Tire Cord and Nylon Tire Cord.

Explore1.ca’s 5 Axis End-Effector Installs Curtain Wall Where Cranes Can’t

Explore1.caÂ's 5 Axis End-Effector Installs Curtain Wall Where Cranes CanÂ't

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) January 17, 2005

Construction today is more about material handling than craftsmanship. Large pre-manufactured building components dominate the modern construction landscape. Well-orchestrated material staging and the cost effective handling of pre-glazed curtain wall panels or other architectural components is often the mark of profitability in todayÂ's highly competitive construction markets. To meet this need Explore1.ca has developed the hydraulically powered forklift mounted 5 Axis End-Effector with a vacuum connection system for the lifting and positioning large pre-glazed curtain wall panels and other architectural components.

The 5-Axis End-Effector easily mounts to the tangs of most 6,000 to 10,000 lbs variable reach forklifts. Using hydraulic power the end-effector can easily lift and position panels up to 3000 lbs. The end-effector typically utilizes up to sixteen vacuum cups in customizable configurations. Six remote functions enable the installers to take panels from a horizontal plane (the crate) to a vertical plane (the wall) and position the panel with smooth precise movements. The end-effector has the capability to install pre-glazed curtain wall system components in areas where overhead interference limits the use of cranes or hoists. The design is flexible enough to allow for a wide variety of customizations to meet specific project challenges.

Utilizing the mobility of a variable reach forklift, the end-effector can lift and position panels in areas not accessible to cranes or hoists. The 5-Axis End-Effector has already proven its value on demanding projects like the American Airlines Terminal at JFK Airport in NY. According to Juan Speck president of Sota Glazing Inc., Â"The end-effector was the perfect solution in an area where more conventional cranes or hoists and below the hook vacuum lifters were not options due to overhead obstructions created by the staggered floor slabs.Â" Speck continues, Â"With the end-effector installers have been able to install large pre-glazed panels in areas that would have traditionally had to be stick built. While this obviously saves labor in the field the added savings for us is not having to separately engineer stick and pre-glazed wall system components for the same project.Â"

About Explore1.ca

Established in 2002 Explore1.ca provides manufacturing, and construction consulting services for glass and aluminum companies. Focusing on pre-glazed curtain wall system components explore1.ca offers innovative solutions for design, manufacturing, construction and quality assurance challenges. With over 25 years of experience in the glass and aluminum industry Explore1.ca has a proven record providing leadership in solving product integration and application problems for contractors, fabricators and manufacturers.

A different kind of Fraternity, a different kind of Spring Break.

A different kind of Fraternity, a different kind of Spring Break.

(PRWEB) April 4, 2004

Over the University of Illinois' Spring Break a group of 9 students, 8 of whom are members of Illinois Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, helped build houses in Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota. Led by Senior Matthew Houseward, the group traveled 980 miles from Champaign, Illinois, to Pine Ridge, South Dakota to work with Pastor Leon Matthews of Pine Ridge Gospel Fellowship to further his intention to better the Lakota people. The group also partnered with Oglala Sioux Tribe Partnership for Housing, Inc., (OSTPH) and worked on it's Self-Help facility for the week in order to assist them in their efforts to provide housing for reservation residents.

Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is the second largest reservation in the United States. The poorest county in the nation, Pine Ridge is plagued by an unemployment rate of almost 80% and alcoholism reaching 90%. The reservation sprawls across thousands of acres of beautiful countryside which is intermittently broken up by small worn homes and fleets of broken down cars that litter local yards. The SigEps stayed near the center of town where many people lived and where you could find several gas stations, grocery stores, residents, schools, and municipal buildings. There is no industry in Pine Ridge, and there are no natural resources. The economy and the residents of Pine Ridge are almost completely dependant on government assistance for basic subsistence and housing. One of the natives that works with Self-Help, Lyle, a skilled contractor, stated that after he served in Vietnam he often found it difficult to find work on the reservation and went back into military service several times before finally retiring to Pine Ridge. According to Pastor Matthews, military service is very common on the reservation, in fact, he said, per capita there are more servicemen serving overseas from Pine Ridge than anywhere else in the nation. Lyle expressed his desire to have a factory built in the area to create jobs and stimulate the local economy but admitted that businesses largely don't trust the native people because of the high rates of drug and alcohol abuse and their dependance on government assistance that undercuts many residents' motivation to work.

The SigEps spent the week with Pastor Leon and drove 40 miles each day to work with Self-Help. At Self-Help a half dozen homes are being built for residents at the same time to be trailored to their final destinations when construction is completed. The residents for which the homes are being built are able to save on labor costs of their homes because they assist in the building of home under the guidance and supervision of several on-site contractors. Since the houses are identically styled and being built in the same place at the same time they are also able save on materials. According to the contractors the average savings per homeowner is about $ 30,000.

The SigEps were able to assist in every aspect of the contruction: framing and raising exterior as well as interior walls, painting, flooring, installing trusses to support the roof as well as roofing from plywood to the last shingle. They worked closely with native contractors who shared their wealth of knowledge about carpentry, their culture, and their experiences living on the reservation. When the SigEps had time to spare they visited the mass grave at Wounded Knee with Pastor Matthews and listened to him as he described the events leading up to the Wounded Knee Massacre. Leon commented that the words Â"Mass GraveÂ" usually instill images of Nazi Germany, Bosnia, or Iraq, and rarely do we as Americans remember the mass grave we dug in South Dakota. On another day after work Pastor Leon took the SigEps to Sheep Mountain in Badlands National Park and took them hiking through the hills. Of course, no college Spring Break trip could be complete without college shennanigans, and their was plenty of that as well: driving under the stars in the pitch black over gravel roads, Lyle taught us how to use a lasso and how to drive a fork truck, nail-gun shooting from the roof, wrestling matches, and hot sauce drinking contests in which there are no winners.

In total the SigEps were able to put in about 350 hours of labor and were able to raise $ 3,500 to alleviate the costs of the trip and to donate to Pastor Matthews. Those that went on the trip learned a great deal, had a great experience, and intend to make the service trip to Pine Ridge an annual event. Although, the problems that face the reservation are extensive, and the efforts made by Sigma Phi Epsilon can barely scratch the suface, they took great joy in the opportunity to aid members of the Pine Ridge community and to give back to a community from which so much has been taken.

Jungheinrich Revolotionizes Forklift Truck Technology with World's First Rotating Cabin Lift Truck

Jungheinrich Revolotionizes Forklift Truck Technology with World's First Rotating Cabin Lift Truck

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) January 18, 2007

The Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp., a world leader in warehouse logistics technology, announces the EFG D30, the first lift truck designed with a full 180° rotating cabin that significantly reduces operator injury and eliminates obstructed views and lengthy reverse travel by allowing the operator to rotate the cabin to face the direction of travel. This truck is the ideal solution for transporting high, stacked pallets, loading/unloading trucks from one side and moving large containers.

Data shows that back injuries caused from reverse driving over long distances and continual twisting and leaning account for 14.2 lost work days per operator each year and $ 13.6 billion in lost productivity. The EFG D30 allows the operator to lift a load, turn the cabin 30° to the left or 180° to the right -- without strain - to eliminate obstructed views.

The operator can rotate the cabin up to 90° while the truck is in motion. For short and medium distance travel this offers adequate visibility and comfort. For traveling long distances, the cabin can be rotated the full 180°, but this must be done while the truck is stationary. A Memory System allows the operator to preset the angles of choice. The MULTI-PILOT joystick control combines all hydraulic functions, plus the travel direction switch, into one ergonomically shaped control lever.

The EFG D30's design allows the truck to handle loads up to 6,600 lbs, reach travel speeds of 12.4 mph and attain lift speeds of 98 ft/min.

The truck features Jungheinrich's proprietary 3-phase AC motor technology, providing power for travel, lift, steering and braking. Jungheinrich discovered years ago that three-phase AC offers significant advantages over traditional direct current shunt-wound motors. For example, it enables strong acceleration and eliminates the delay when shifting into reverse. With no carbon brushes to wear, an AC motor is essentially maintenance-free. In addition, the truck reclaims its kinetic energy during braking and stores it back in the battery; as a result, much less time is wasted on recharging. This robust truck will keep working shift after shift.

The truck also features a patented Curve Speed Reduction Steering System which prevents the possibility of "tipping." The truck's internal sensors maintain the amount of centrifugal force exerted on the operator, load and machine at a low level. Sensors "feel" the steering angle and then automatically adjust the travel speed or activate the electronic brake to slow the vehicle and safely navigate the turn. The steering assembly has a jointed, cross-shaft axle with an integral steering cylinder and twin rear wheels that provides maximum maneuverability through turns. Vehicle turns are made safe and comfortable on all floor surfaces.

A steering-wheel-mounted, LCD information and service display (LISA) device allows the driver to choose from five individually adjustable operating modes. Operators can adjust acceleration, braking, travel, lifting and lowering speeds to suit the specific task. LISA also displays detailed text for fast and accurate reading of operating conditions and service requirements.

For more information about the new EFG D30, contact Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp., 5601 Eastport Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23231. Call 804-737-6084, Fax 804-737-6136. Or, visit the website at http://www.jungheinrich-us.com.

Manitex Inc. Announces the Introduction of its New Tip Height of 190' for its Successful 124SX and 40124S Models

Manitex--Moving Forward Faster

Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 29, 2008

Manitex has introduced a new tip height for its successful 124SX and 40124S models, extending its reach to 190', approximately 13% higher than the previous 166'.

Used primarily in the power grid construction field, the new tip height on the 124SX and 40124S is in response to increasing demands in the market. "Power lines are now carrying more current and therefore need to be lifted off the ground higher. That's where the improved 124SX and 40124S come in," says Scott Rolston, President of Manitex Inc.

These machines have also been successfully used in the building of ethanol plants in the Midwest. "The increased height allows for construction of the aerial grain elevators," explains Randy Robertson, Director of Sales and Marketing for Manitex, Inc., talking about the various applications of the crane.

Manitex is looking to increase its share market in the segments of power grid construction and other similar applications. The company has steadily and aggressively positioned itself as a "one-stop shop" for lifting equipment. "We have what it takes to get the job done from forklifts to taxi cranes. Specializing in various niche markets is one of our strengths" concludes Randy Robertson speaking of the improved working tip heights as a response to a special need in the industry.

About Manitex, Inc.

Manitex, Inc. is a leading provider of engineered lifting solutions including truck-mounted cranes, rough terrain forklifts and special mission oriented vehicles. Manitex also manufactures and markets a comprehensive line of boom trucks and sign cranes that are primarily used in industrial projects, energy exploration and infrastructure development, including roads, bridges, and commercial construction. AskTheTrucker Supports September 15th Call-In to Address Truck Driver Fatigue, Parking Shortages, and Reduction of Highway Fatalities

AskTheTrucker Supports September 15th Call-In to Address Truck Driver Fatigue, Parking Shortages, and Reduction of Highway Fatalities

Dunnellon, FL (PRWEB) September 13, 2010

On April 28th, 2009 Congressman Paul Tonko of New York presented HR 2156 to the house, seeking remedy for the nation's severe truck parking shortage which has directly affected truck driver safety, trucker fatigue, accident fatality, and national highway safety. AskTheTrucker.com has been reporting the updates and progress of this most vital bill, including live radio appearances of Congressman Tonko on Truth About Trucking "Live."

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/truthabouttrucking/2010/02/19/congressman-paul-tonko-on-jasons-law

For many years, Government studies have indicated that there is a significant shortage of available truck parking facilities. Studies have also indicated, that by not having enough truck parking, drivers are at greater risk of experiencing what's commonly called within the trucking industry as "truck driver fatigue", which according to the National Transportation Safety Board "may be a contributing factor in as many as 30 to 40 percent of all heavy truck accidents." The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ( FMCSA) has stated that truck driver fatigue has been the main cause of thirteen percent of all fatal crashes involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle.

To make matters worse, the current economic recession has forced many states to close additional rest areas. When drivers cannot find available parking to rest, many times they continue to drive in this dangerously fatigued state, reducing their alertness or ability to think clearly, while they continue to search for available refuge. Other times they are forced to hazardously park on exit and entrance ramps, or to find solace in isolated areas, as was the case of Jason Rivenburg, who was shot and killed as he rested in an abandoned gas station on March 5, 2009.

Truckers, their families and friends are urging people to call their elected officials on September 15th in order to support HR 2156 and S971, "Jason's Law."

http://www.askthetrucker.com/truckers-unite-for-2nd-national-call-in-day-for-jasons-law/

The law would allocate funds, already existing from collected fuel tax, towards a Pilot Program which would create and maintain safe truck parking for professional truck drivers. The plan is designed to spend a modest 20 million dollars a year for 6 years.

As reported this past June in a post on AskTheTrucker:

http://www.askthetrucker.com/lack-of-truck-parking-causing-highway-safety-risk-for-general-public/

Jason's Law has been dormant in the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee/ Highways and Transit sub-committee. It is imperative that this vital bill be passed into law and not allowed to, once again, be placed within a larger bill where little or nothing is done to either address or resolve the issue of severe truck parking shortages.

On Wednesday, September 15th, please call your US representatives and Senators:

http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml

. . . and ask to speak with the transportation staffer. Explain that you are concerned with the direct correlation between truck driver fatigue as it relates to the severe truck parking shortage and our national highway safety, specifically, truck related fatalities.

Particular attention will be to Senator Charles Schumer, who first presented S971 to the Senate. His phone number is: (202) 224-6542

On September 6th 2010, President Obama called for a 50 billion dollar infrastructure plan to rebuild the roads, railways, and airport runways of this country. Should this bill be passed, we hope that additional funds would be allocated towards the prevention of highway fatalities by assuring that there be an adequate number of truck parking facilities for professional drivers to obtain their mandated and legally required rest.

AskTheTrucker.com is one of many websites within Truth About Trucking, LLC and is dedicated to the betterment of the professional truck driver and strives to "Raise the Standards of the Trucking Industry"

UK Technology Company Listed in This Year’s Queen’s Awards for Enterprise

UK Technology Company Listed in This YearÂ's QueenÂ's Awards for Enterprise

(PRWEB) April 22, 2004

** Photograph available from ray@medialink.co.uk

(PRWEB) April 23, 2004 -- The company, from Olney, beat hundreds of other pioneering products and businesses to earn the Innovation distinction – one of three honour categories in the annual QueenÂ's Awards for Enterprise. Only a small number of organisations proposed for the Awards receive recognition, a fact acknowledged by Managing Director John Kent.

Â"The Award means that our products are recognised as being at the forefront of the worldÂ's key management systems and that the Company has been acknowledged by the highest office for its innovation. And rightly so – Traka is innovative and weÂ're very proud of it.

Â"This honour means we have been noted as a supplier of a product that is truly outstanding, in what we have already achieved and in what we can achieve in the future. ItÂ's staggering, really – there is so much more we can, and will, do with this superb system.Â"

The Traka system operates by securely attaching all work keys to a special Â"iFobÂ" using a security seal which staff take and return to the Traka electronic cabinet. From there on Traka ensures that only authorised staff with the correct access privileges are allowed the use of each key and that every key taken is recorded automatically on to a central database showing the key userÂ's name as well as the date and time.

With Traka in use there is no argument about who has damaged a vehicle, taken a vital file, received a parking fine or lost a key. Access to Traka-managed keys can be via PIN code, swipe card or Biometrics (hand-print recognition).

New features are continually being developed by Traka including Â"smartÂ" key-less iFobs that not only unlock and operate machinery but can also record where they have been used, whether the equipment was satisfactory or even if a truck has been subject to excessive shocks or impacts. Traka systems can also ensure that faulty equipment is locked out of use or pre-booked, perhaps remotely, for an operator to use at a specific time and date.

Traka was first invented by John Kent in 1990 when British Airways asked him to develop a system to safeguard the use of ground support vehicles. Following a series of prototypes the Traka product as it looks today was introduced to BA in 1995 and the company has developed rapidly since then.

Traka now has distributors in 18 countries around the world and offers its unique brand of security to everything from casinos in Canada to radio stations in Italy. Police forces across the globe have adopted the Traka method and organisations as diverse as Disneyland Europe, Tesco, Sainsbury and the British Library all use Traka technology.

Note to Editors:

Some of the features that won Traka the QueenÂ's Award for Innovation:

1. If a key is not in the cabinet when it should be, thereÂ's no need to ask around the office who has taken it – the Traka system will have logged the user automatically when he or she took the fob.

2. Traka holds all the information on special Windows computer software so that long-term records may be stored and maintained in case records have to be checked again at a later date.

3. Traka can help to plan the usage and value of company assets: how long a vehicle has been used for; how often certain files are accessed; and how many times a year a lift motor room has been accessed for maintenance.

4. As every iFob has a built-in electronic tag, it doesnÂ't need a label, so anyone finding a lost one wonÂ't know what it opens or starts.

5. Access to the special Traka cabinet can be by PIN access code, swipe card access, or Biometrics (finger- or hand-print recognition).

6. The iFob, which can be used to operate fork lift trucks, can also collect and store information. It can record that a driver accepts the condition of a fork truck before using it each morning. Its shock sensor can even record if the truck has been in a collision. When an iFob is returned to the Traka cabinet, faults can be reported, ensuring that the equipment is locked out of use until the repair is made.

7. iFobs not only grant access to authorised personnel, but they can be programmed to work only at certain hours, or for specific lengths of time.

8. Keys can be booked in advance for later use, and a reminder is shown on the keybox display if anyone else takes a key when it should be in place for the Â"bookingÂ".

The listings are organized in alphabetical order within each category, but now a listing can upgrade to be Featured and appear in the top positions of the corresponding category. A listing becomes Featured by simply adding a link back to the Voice123 website in the advertisers own website.
