InventHelp Client Designs Tool to Facilitate Removal/Installation of Master Links in Roller Chains (JMC-1272)

InventHelp

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) October 09, 2013

"I had to install master chains on several roller tables, but couldn't do the work without loosening sprockets," said an inventor and maintenance mechanic from Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada. "That's when I decided that there needed to be an easier way of performing this task."

He then created a prototype of the CHAIN STRETCHER, a tool that makes removing and installing a master link in a roller chain quicker and more efficient. It helps pull the roller chains together without the need for assistance. Overall, it saves time and effort. The tool is ideal for the steel industry, trucking industry, aircraft industry, manufacturing industry, etc.

As Vaginal Mesh Lawsuits Mount, Bernstein Liebhard LLP Notes New Study Findings Suggesting that Many Transvaginal Mesh Complications May be Permanent

As Vaginal Mesh Lawsuits Mount, Bernstein Liebhard LLP Notes New Study Findings Suggesting that Many Transvaginal Mesh Complications May be Permanent

New York, New York (PRWEB) May 20, 2014

As vagina mesh lawsuits (http://www.transvaginalmeshlawsuithelp.com/)

continue to mount in courts around the country, Bernstein Liebhard LLP notes that two studies were presented this week at the American Urological Association's annual meeting that suggest many of the injuries alleged in these claims could be permanent, even when a transvaginal mesh implant has been removed. According to HealthDay News, the first study followed 123 women who underwent surgical removal of a transvaginal mesh device or suburethral tape because of chronic pain. Only 67% of the patients who underwent removal of a mesh implant reported being pain free afterwards.*

The second study presented at the meeting surveyed 214 women about three years after they'd had their mesh implants removed due to pain and other complications. At least a third of the women said they continued to suffer moderate-to-severe pain. Twenty-eight percent reported urine leakage at least once a day, while half reported pain during sexual intercourse, according to HealthDay News.

"These findings echo what we have heard from our own clients. Many of these women continue suffer from alleged transvaginal mesh complications despite having undergone multiple surgeries to remove their implants," says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free vaginal mesh lawsuit reviews to women who suffered mesh erosion, pain, scarring, infection and other serious injuries, allegedly due to transvaginal mesh products manufactured by American Medical Systems, Inc., Boston Scientific Corp., C.R. Bard, Inc. and Ethicon, Inc.

Transvaginal Mesh Complications

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has been reviewing the safety of transvaginal mesh used to treat pelvic organ prolapse, as well as stress urinary incontinence, since October 2008, when it first alerted the public to the serious risk of vaginal mesh complications associated with these products. Last month, the agency proposed new rules that, if finalized, would reclassify mesh used to treat prolapse as high-risk medical devices. These products are currently classified as moderate risk.

According The Wall Street Journal, if the FDA's proposed rules take effect, the devices would no longer be eligible for the agency's 510(k) clearance process, which allowed transvaginal mesh to be approved without the benefit of human clinical trials. Manufacturers that are currently marketing pelvic mesh for transvaginal prolapse repair would also be required to submit new studies to the FDA demonstrating their safety and effectiveness if they intend to keep selling them.**

According to court documents, more than 50,000 vaginal mesh lawsuits are now pending in several litigations now underway in U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia. Bernstein Liebhard LLP partner, Jeffrey S. Grand, is serving on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committees for several of these procedures, including American Medical Systems, Inc. (MDL No. 2325), Boston Scientific Corp. (MDL No. 2326), C.R. Bard, Inc. (MDL No. 2187) and Ethicon, Inc. (MDL No. 2327).

Mr. Grand has also been appointed Co-Liaison Counsel in two multicounty litigations underway in New Jersey Superior Court for transvaginal mesh lawsuits involving products marketed by C.R. Bard and Ethicon. He was also a member of the Plaintiff's trial team on the first Ethicon trial in that proceeding, which ended in March with a jury awarding $ 11 million in compensatory and punitive damages to a woman who was harmed by the Ethicon Gynecare Prolift device. (In re: Pelvic Mesh/Gynecare Litigation, No. 6341-10; In re: Pelvic Mesh Litigation/Bard, No. L-6339-10)

Alleged victims of serious transvaginal mesh complications may be entitled to file their own vaginal mesh lawsuit against the company that manufactured their implant. To learn more about this growing litigation, please visit Bernstein Liebhard LLP's website or the Firm's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/meshlawsuit. To obtain a free, confidential and no-obligation case review, please call 800-511-5092.

Elwell-Parker Re-launches Corporate Website After 12 Years Offline

Elwell-Parker Re-launches Corporate Website After 12 Years Offline

The Elwell-Parker ESE 200

Coraopolis, PA (PRWEB) February 11, 2014

H&K Equipment of Pittsburgh announced today that it has re-launched the corporate website of the Elwell-Parker Electric Company, a 120-year-old lift truck manufacturer formerly headquartered in Cleveland. The re-launch marks the first time the website, http://www.elwellparker.com, has been active since being taken down in the spring of 2001.

The redesigned website is intended to serve as a practical resource for customers as well as a historical archive for Elwell-Parker's legacy, said H&K Equipment Operations Manager Patrick Koch. Koch's company purchased Elwell-Parker from Hoist Liftruck of Bedford, Illinois in 2010 and has since acted as the OEM and caretaker of the brand.

"Elwell-Parker's Cleveland manufacturing shop was shuttered in 2000, but there are still thousands of people using and working with this equipment every day," Koch said. "It's a strong ongoing legacy and we wanted to bring back the website to reflect that."

The website features detailed vehicle descriptions and media including brochures, guides and spec sheets for many of Elwell-Parker's most popular product lines. There is also an extensive company history that explores Elwell-Parker's role in the material handling industry across three centuries.

In addition to product and company information, the website provides online contact forms for parts and service requests and will act as a gateway for industrial historians and equipment enthusiasts, Koch said. He added that H&K Equipment has also launched official Elwell-Parker accounts on Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn and Twitter.

"There is a growing demand for information about these machines," Koch said. "We get a lot of calls from people who want to know whether we have Elwell-Parker trucks available, and increasingly people are asking about the brand online."

"Demand for Elwell-Parker parts is very high," added Howard Fugitt, who oversees purchasing for special engineered products and maintains the Elwell-Parker archives at H&K Equipment's Coraopolis, Pennsylvania facility. "We have trucks in service that are 40, 50, almost 60 years old. Many are so specialized that they literally do not exist anywhere else. The website will make it easier for these customers to contact us so we can get them what they're looking for."

"We have all the original designs and technical information, so we can service, repair or manufacture any Elwell-Parker lift truck from any era, some dating back over 100 years," Fugitt said. "Many people don't realize that we have these capabilities or that Elwell-Parker is still an active brand. The website will help grow that awareness."

Originally one of the nation's oldest makers of electric motors, Elwell-Parker was founded in Cleveland in 1893. In 1906 the company entered the material handling industry when it developed the first electric-powered material handling truck for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Elwell-Parker also built the first low-lift truck in 1914 and helped pioneer many of the first forklifts and other early models of mobile industrial equipment.

In spite of enjoying nearly a century of success, Elwell-Parker was sold to Hoist Liftruck in 2000 after experiencing steep declines following downturns in American manufacturing and increased overseas competition. Elwell-Parker's website was taken offline and redirected to its parent company's website the following year.

H&K Equipment, which itself was founded from an Elwell-Parker dealership by Alan Heidenrich and current CEO George Koch in 1983, has been working to maintain Elwell-Parker's prominence in its core markets since gaining ownership of the company in 2010.

"My career in the industry started because of Elwell-Parker," George Koch said. "Our success was made possible by what they did and it means a great deal to this company to continue that tradition." He added, "Now we have American manufacturing making a comeback; it's time for Elwell-Parker to make a comeback also."

About Elwell-Parker

An American institution since 1893, for over a century the Elwell-Parker Electric Company had a reputation for problem-solving through engineering, designing some of the most specialized industrial vehicles ever produced. In addition to forklifts, Elwell-Parker also developed electric coil handlers, die handlers and high-capacity platform trucks. A subsidiary of H&K Equipment since 2010, Elwell-Parker continues to be known for setting the standard in material handling.

About H&K Equipment

H&K Equipment is a leading full-service provider of lift trucks, container handlers, yard trucks, railcar movers, personnel carriers and industrial cleaning equipment. Founded near Pittsburgh in 1983, H&K Equipment now leads a family of subsidiary companies that employs over 240 people in eight facilities across Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland. In addition to Elwell-Parker, H&K Equipment is also the owner and OEM for the brands Autolift and Schreck.

The Construction Industry Is Expected to Grow in 2014, U.S. Insurance Source Reminds Local Contractors about the Importance of Proper Insurance Coverage

The Construction Industry Is Expected to Grow in 2014, U.S. Insurance Source Reminds Local Contractors about the Importance of Proper Insurance Coverage

Spring, Texas (PRWEB) February 10, 2014

According to Dallas Morning News, the construction industry in Texas is forecasted to continue to grow throughout 2014. This boost in the industry is expected to cause contractors to increase their workforce by hiring more workers in order to meet the expected demand. These shifts in the industry will also require contractors across Texas to reevaluate their contractors insurance and workers compensation insurance needs. U.S. Insurance Source of Texas would like to offer the following pieces of advice about these types of insurance coverages:

Make sure that all contractors' insurance policies are reviewed annually. Since businesses can change significantly over the course of a year, some of these changes can result in the need for an updated insurance package.
Contractors who are hiring additional workers this year are encouraged to learn more about their workers compensation insurance options. Depending on the size and nature of a contractors business, certain policy options are more appropriate than others. Furthermore, contractors who did not previously employ other workers may not realize the benefits of a comprehensive workers compensation insurance package. Businesses owners should learn more about this type of protection before hiring more employees.
Standard business insurance policies will most likely not provide the adequate level of liability protection that is offered through a Business Owner's Policy designed specifically for contractors. Coverage such as builders risk insurance provides extra liability protection that some contractors may need.

For more information about these insurance options, as well as a contractor's insurance package and builders risk insurance that is specifically customized for each unique business, contractors across Texas are encouraged to contact U.S. Insurance Source's office at 800-401-8242. The agency would also like to offer insurance claim tips for contractors across Texas.

About U.S. Insurance Source:

U.S. Insurance Source has been providing insurance solutions to Texas individuals, families, and businesses for more than 20 years. The agency focuses on using innovative processes in order to better serve their clients, and making sure that each one's individual insurance needs are properly met. From standard personal and business insurance to insurance for businesses in more specific industries, such as trucking insurance, U.S. Insurance Source strives to fulfill all of their clients' insurance needs, no matter where in the country they are located.

Trucking and Logistics Leader Andy Ahern Defends Trucking Industry

Trucking and Logistics Leader Andy Ahern Defends Trucking Industry

Ahern & Associates is one of the most respected names in the Trucking and Logistics Industry

Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) February 13, 2014

Over the past year, the trucking industry has been the subject of increasing scrutiny from the government, the media, and the general public which have focused on the industry's safety record and operating practices. In mainstream media the majority of industry stories have focused on fines levied and lawsuits issued with new regulations implemented in the name of public safety. The transportation industry has been in danger of being painted as a villainous entity that is a menacing danger on wheels when the reality, Andy Ahern argues, is that the trucking industry is one of the most widely misunderstood industries in the country, with very few proponents in its corner.

In comments on his widely read industry newsletter, The Ahern Advisory, as well as his popular video podcast, Andy Ahern, founder and CEO of Ahern & Associates, one of the top transportation logistics companies in the country, has sought to change this. With over two decades of experience working with transport and logistics companies of all sizes, Ahern is intimately knowledgeable about both sides of the debate. Although the impassioned campaigning from the public is an understandable response to the real concerns over safety on America's roads, Ahern focuses on facts and collision studies in order to reach pragmatic conclusions and to dispel some of the unfortunate myths that have been attached to the previously esteemed transportation industry.

One of the most ubiquitous and unfortunate misconceptions the public holds about the trucking industry is that truck drivers are responsible for the vast majority of car/truck fatalities on the road. Many in the public hold a false belief that truck drivers enter the road under the influence of alcohol, illegal substances, or are performing risky maneuvers while on the road. Ahern notes however, that this is simply not the case.

Recent surveys have shown that in 70% to 75% of all fatal car and truck related crashes, the drivers of the private passenger cars were found to be at fault for the accident. Out of those fatal crashes, 31% of those private vehicle drivers were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Conversely, a mere 2% of collisions involved a truck driver operating a vehicle while under the influence, and trucks have an overall crash rate which is less than half of the national average. Furthermore, truck drivers and the industry as a whole are held to incredibly stringent standards that most private vehicle drivers would fail to meet. For example, Hours of Service regulations mandate strict rules regarding fuel, driving, sleeping, loading, and unloading while commercial trucking fleets are routinely governed to maintain a safe speed limit typically within 62 to 68 miles per hour. Unlike private vehicle drivers, only truck drivers with strong driving records are allowed on the road, and all drivers are highly incentivized to act prudently and safely while driving.

These statistics hold true for the 8.9 million Americans employed in trucking-related jobs, as well as the 3.5 million Americans employed as truck drivers. The projected growth of the trucking industry is just one of many signals that indicate the importance of the industry to the well-being of the entire country. Currently, trucks move 9.4 billion tons of freight, generate $ 642.1 billion in gross revenue, and move 70% to 80% of all products in the United States. Overall freight revenue is predicted to grow by 63.6%, and tonnage to rise 70.8% by 2014. These transported products include virtually all products essential for daily life: food, clothes, medical devices, and life-saving drugs are all moved every day by the very truck drivers vilified by the public and the government.

In his video podcast, Ahern encourages the trucking industry to be proud of their work and unique position as the backbone of Middle-America. Contrary to the public's impression of truck drivers, Ahern notes that the responsibilities of a truck driver actually require a fairly skilled and nuanced set of skills. Truck drivers are constantly completing mileage calculations, balancing fuel and freight weight, manage schedules and routes, while working with potentially unyielding shippers and receivers. Being self-motivated, mature, and excellent at time management are all prerequisites for success in this position that receives very little applause or accolade.

Graphic Products Releases Placement and Color Guide to Floor Marking Infographic

Graphic Products Releases Placement and Color Guide to Floor Marking Infographic

Floor Marking Infographic

Portland, OR (PRWEB) April 29, 2014

Graphic Products has added a free Placement and Color Guide to Floor Marking infographic to its growing portfolio of visual communication resources. Created by graphic designer Joe Hanson, this colorful infographic provides a comprehensive rendering of the warehouse/distribution center environment and the functions floor marking tape plays in safety, efficiency, and customer service – all of which support profitable operations. Just click on the link above to view the infographic or embed it into your website.

Hanson has created an ideal environment for floor marking and labeling applications in great detail and perspective, using both lighting and texture for a lifelike, emotive quality.

"Industrial real estate is expensive and it's got to be correctly used for the best ROI, so when a pallet is stacked too high, or a lane is too narrow, or waste winds up in an unintended place, then time and resources are misused," said Steve Stephenson, Graphic Products. "In the best warehouses, there's a place for everything, and everything has its place. Nothing is random. This guide was designed to help warehouse and distribution center managers optimize their space for efficiency."

Organizing warehouse space with floor marking tape is also cost-effective when compared to paint, stanchions, or barriers. Floor marking tape, which is not limited to floors, is rugged and is available in multiple colors, shapes, textures, and adhesion strengths.

Though OSHA does not regulate floor marking colors, here are some suggested guidelines:

    Purple for finished goods
    Green for safety areas
    Blue for parts organization
    White for work areas.
    Yellow to designate traffic areas
Black/yellow stripes for hazardous and electrical areas
    Red for scrap material areas
Glow-in-the-dark tape to illuminate exits and entrances

Floor marking tape can also be used to designate pallet areas. Bar coding them to indicate stock type will add an additional level of organization and efficiency. Another safety application is designating a safe zone around conveyors or equipment with moving parts. Floor marking signs are essential for warehouses with forklift traffic and pedestrians.

Other infographics from Graphic Products include:

The 6S system, a continuous improvement process that includes sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain, and safety
    Arc Flash boundaries
    OSHA workplace safety
    Fire safety history

Graphic Products carries a full family of labeling systems for every application, free technical support, and a five-year warranty on labels made with premium vinyl. Satisfied customers throughout the world include P&G, Amazon.com, Georgia-Pacific, Boeing, John Deere, Conoco, Sara Lee, Toyota and General Electric. Stertil-Koni Boosts Production, Enhances Efficiencies to Meet Growing Demand for Heavy Duty Vehicle Lifts

Stertil-Koni Boosts Production, Enhances Efficiencies to Meet Growing Demand for Heavy Duty Vehicle Lifts

The Stertil-Koni ST 1085 EARTHLIFT, with a lifting capacity of 18,500 lbs. per column, easily raises a cement mixer.

Stevensville, MD (PRWEB) February 18, 2014

To meet escalating customer demand for its broad range of heavy duty vehicle lifts, industry leader Stertil-Koni today announced that it has boosted its manufacturing capacity and simultaneously implemented key enhancements in its overall production processes to further speed delivery times.

Today's development is the most recent in a series of capital and workforce investment initiatives by Stertil-Koni to increase both productivity and efficiency.

The company's portfolio of highly regarded mobile column lifts is the principle beneficiary of these most recent improvements. Noted Peter Bowers, Technical Sales Support Manager at Stertil-Koni, "Marketplace response to our recently introduced ST 1085 mobile column lifts has been extremely positive. These mobile column lifts deliver the latest in high-performance, low-maintenance and safety-engineered mobile lifting systems."

The ST 1085 series features a lifting capacity of 18,500 lbs. per column and is equipped with extra-long adjustable pick-up forks of 14 inches – well suited to safely raise all types of vehicles, including those with super single tires. In addition, the width between the lifting forks is adjustable, so that vehicles with variable wheel diameters can be lifted safely and easily.

Continued Bowers, "The ST 1085 also features a Multi Master System, equipped with a control box on each individual mobile lifting column. In that way, lifting columns can be operated individually, in pairs or a complete set with the touch of a single button. Customers also appreciate that all columns are interchangeable, so they can be used at multiple locations."

In July 2013, Stertil-Koni announced that its manufacturing facility in Streator, Illinois, purchased and installed a new Okuma MILLAC Vertical Machining Center. The result has been to substantially speed the fabrication process while simultaneously increasing precision in a broad range of the company's heavy duty lifts, including mobile column lifts, platform lifts, its US patented, ultra-shallow, full-rise in-ground scissor lifting system, ECOLIFT, and its full-rise telescopic piston lift, DIAMOND LIFT.

In April 2013, Stertil-Koni also unveiled a new, world-class cutting machine that utilizes a combination of plasma and oxy-fuel torches coupled with a high-end PC-based touch screen controller for extremely quick, high-precision manufacturing.

About Stertil-Koni USA, Inc.

Stertil-Koni is the global market leader in heavy duty vehicle lifts – bus lifts and truck lifts – and is the preferred supplier to the world's leading companies in the truck and bus industries. Stertil-Koni's breadth of products meets all ranges of lifting needs and includes mobile column lifts, two-post, four-post, in-ground piston lifts, platform lifts, half-scissors and its innovative axle-engaging, in-ground, scissor lift configuration, ECOLIFT. Stertil-Koni is headquartered in Stevensville, Maryland, has production facilities in Europe and the U.S. and is proud to have the greatest total number of ALI/ETL certified heavy-duty lifting products in the industry.

New for 2014, Black Rhino Wheels Introduces Letaba Truck Wheels In 20-Inch, 22-Inch and 24-Inch Diameters

New for 2014, Black Rhino Wheels Introduces Letaba Truck Wheels In 20-Inch, 22-Inch and 24-Inch Diameters

Truck Wheels by Black Rhino - The Letaba in Silver

Huntington Beach, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2014

Nestled in Africa's Great Limpopo Wilderness, Kruger National Park is bisected by the Letaba River, and offers a breathtaking array of 4x4 safari trails that combine off-road traveling, outdoor camping and game viewing. It is from this off roader's paradise that Black Rhino Wheels drew inspiration for the newly introduced Letaba truck wheels.

Like all Black Rhino custom truck wheels, the new Letaba is an engineering tour de force, ruggedized to meet the substantial demands of SUV and truck enthusiasts. No less noteworthy is the stunning design of Letaba truck rims. Radiating strength and confidence, its split six-spoke concave aspect is finished in Matte Black, Silver with a brushed face and a chrome stainless lip or Gloss Black with a chrome stainless lip. The Letaba's multi-piece structure is the ideal platform for combining innovative design with rock-solid performance.

Letaba off road wheels are manufactured in 20-inch diameter by 9-inch width, 22-inch by 9.5-inch and 24-inch by 10-inch to deliver the aggressive stance and elevated clearance preferred by lifted truck ands SUV customizers. Positive offsets from 15 to 35mm are available. All Black Rhino aftermarket truck wheels are hub centric, or supplied with a centering ring, for a smooth, vibration free ride.

Terence Scheckter, president of Black Rhino Wheels, points out that "Black Rhino now offers ten designs specifically for the off road enthusiast as well as seven models aimed at the truck and SUV owner. In all cases, wheels are engineered for precision compatibility with specific model vehicles. This, of course, requires a broader range of specs than the typical aftermarket wheel manufacturer. But it underscores our 'zero compromise' mindset."

Scheckter adds that the company's commitment to engineering excellence and continuous improvement has been essential to the company's rapid growth and the strength and commitment of its dealer network. Black Rhino dealers can be searched by zip code on the Black Rhino website at blackrhinowheels.com/ or can be found by calling 1888-766-7775. Black Rhino Wheels dealers are located throughout North America and worldwide, including Discount Tire Direct on the web at discounttiredirect.com/.

The Black Rhino website provides a range of features to enable shoppers to compare custom truck rims and off road rims. In addition to product photos and complete technical specifications, the "Wheel Fitment" tab enables prospects to search for wheels based on year, make and model truck or SUV. The "Configurator" tab goes a step further, enabling viewers to preview any Black Rhino wheel on the make, model and color of their vehicle. To add an "instagram" dimension, the site's Gallery includes dozens of uploaded photos of Black Rhino Wheels on customer vehicles.

Black Rhino Wheels is part of the TSW family of eleven aftermarket wheel companies. TSW Wheels was launched in South Africa in the sixties. Now headquartered in California, the company serves dealers throughout the world. The company has a rich racing heritage, founded by a Formula One driver and involved in motor sports for over forty years. Recently one of its newest wheels for Corvettes was named the official wheel of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Truck Accident Spreads Ethanol, Fears

Truck Accident Spreads Ethanol, Fears

CHARLOTTE, NC (PRWEB) February 13, 2014

A crash involving a chemical-loaded tractor trailer alarmed residents and stopped traffic. Accident lawyer Herb Auger of Auger Law says that even though the chemicals turned out not to be deadly, they highlight the increased risk of accidents involving tanker trucks.

The crash involved a tanker hauling ethanol according to WCNC News (retrieved 01.14.2014). When the semi crashed, first responders detected a leak of the substance and HazMat was notified.

"The consequences tend to be worse whenever a big truck is involved," said Auger, whose firm helps accident victims who have been injured. "A tractor trailer is quite possible the most dangerous vehicle on the road. But once there are chemicals on board, it can affect an entire community."

Ethanol is an industrial version of alcohol which can be used as a solvent or for fuel. While not the most toxic chemical on the roads, Auger says it can cause substantial harm in large enough quantities.

"This is something you don't want in your groundwater," he said.

Fire Department officials said the leak was minor. Motorists were told to use a different route to avoid the accident, but no evacuation was ordered for the area.

Nonetheless Auger says it drives home the very real risk of a chemical truck accident.

"We work with a lot of accident victims and we've seen all kinds of truck crashes. Cargo scattered on the road, live cattle wandering off... but it is industrial chemicals that cause the most harm."

Auger said motorists should give all semi-trucks a wide berth.

"Treat them with respect and give them lots of room, and you're likely adding a few years on your life."

Forklift & Conveyor Manufacturing in Canada Industry Market Research Report Now Available from IBISWorld

Forklift & Conveyor Manufacturing in Canada Industry Market Research Report Now Available from IBISWorld

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 06, 2014

The Forklift and Conveyor Manufacturing industry in Canada is largely driven by US demand for Canadian goods. Exports to Canada's southern neighbour consistently account for more than 70.0% of all industry exports and more than 80.0% of total industry revenue. Thus, US trends in the industry's key downstream markets of manufacturing, construction and warehousing largely dictate revenue potential and outcomes.

The tension between this industry's reliance on exports to the United States and its ongoing trade deficit have created a state of decline. Coupled with historically high steel prices during the past five years, price-based competition from low-cost US products has placed downward pressure on manufacturers' profit margins. In turn, the number of companies making forklifts and conveyors in Canada has been steadily declining. According to IBISWorld Industry Analyst Jocelyn Phillips, "To avoid exiting the industry, some companies have slashed their unskilled labour forces to increase operational efficiencies while investing in highly skilled engineers to perform research and development (R&D) on higher-margin, value-added products." These activities have resulted in steady declines in industry employment during the past five years, but the average wage has actually risen somewhat because higher salaries for R&D departments offset reductions on the assembly line.

During the five years to 2014, IBISWorld projects industry revenue will grow. "This growth stems largely from a double-digit increase in revenue in 2011, when US demand for Canadian goods rebounded in line with the onset of recovery from the economic recession," says Jocelyn. As this recovery sustains and export demand continues to grow, revenue is expected to increase in 2014. As the industry moves further from the booming recovery of 2011 and 2012, however, revenue growth is expected to slow. Over the five years to 2019, IBISWorld expects industry revenue to increase at a slower rate than that of the previous five-year period.
