Batteries are cleaned and prepared for delivery to the factory

Sterling Heights, MI (PRWEB) August 26, 2013

Energy Products is now powering the forklifts at a major automotive assembly plant located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. By utilizing their patent pending Charged Battery Delivery system, they are supplying a more efficient means to change and charge forklift batteries while providing a just-in-time delivery of charged forklift batteries.

This new system helped to free up valuable space in the factory by eliminated the battery room needed to charge and maintain the forklift batteries. The large industrial forklift batteries are charged and maintained at an off-site location on custom built trailers. When the supply of charged batteries at the Windsor Assembly Plant begins running low, a trailer of fully charged batteries is dropped off at the facility and the load of depleted batteries is picked up and returned to the off-site location for charging and maintenance.

Traditionally, these very large and heavy batteries were transferred in and out of the forklifts and charging locations with a manual operator using an overhead crane with the batteries hanging and swinging from chains. The Charged Battery Delivery system provides a safer way to handle forklift batteries by utilizing another forklift to remove the battery and place it into the trailer, and then pull a charged battery from the trailer and place it in the forklift. This process takes approximately 90 seconds and the battery is never handled directly by a worker.

"The Charged Battery Delivery program is a big win for the factory," states Kurt H. Smith, CEO of Energy Products. "It increases usable floor space within the factory, decreases the amount of time required to change a battery, and reduces the capital costs associated with operating a battery charging room since Energy Products owns the batteries, chargers and handling equipment." Removing the battery room from the factory also eliminated the environmental issues associated with charging and maintaining the batteries within the facility and provides a cleaner and healthier work environment.
