CareWare Systems Selected to Streamline Operations for UMW Equipment

CareWare Systems Sdn Bhd (http://www.careware.com.my), Sage's top business software reseller in Malaysia for 2010, announced today it has been selected to implement an ERP and field equipment service solution based on Sage Accpac and Technisoft Service Manager for UMW Equipment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UMW Group.

UMW Equipment, which is the region's leading distributor of Toyota forklifts and other heavy equipment, selected CareWare to replace its existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) system starting later this summer. The solution CareWare will implement is based on a widely accepted solution using Sage Accpac ERP and a 3rd party developed solution called Service Manager designed for companies in the heavy equipment industry.

According to Robert Tan, Managing Director of CareWare Systems, the project will require a sophisticated deployment of multiple technologies integrated into one seamless platform to provide UMW with the control and access to timely information it needs. "As the leading reseller of Toyota forklifts and heavy industrial equipment, UMW needs the ability to track sales, rental agreements and extended warranties," notes Tan. "Sage Accpac ERP and Service Manager from Technisoft is part of a well-known field service and equipment maintenance solution with large enterprise clients all over Asia, North America and Europe."

The heavy equipment industry faces a difficult challenge when selling expensive equipment for which it then has to track customer maintenance requests that may or may not fall under an extended warranty or may or may not be covered by a service agreement. "Having a fully integrated ERP and field service solution is a key requirement for our growth," observes the General Manager for UMW Equipment. "To maintain profitability while growing the business, we knew we had to pick a proven solution for the heavy equipment industry.
