Harding Steel Inc. Announces Nationwide Availability of Its First Ever Non-Mechanical Parking Product

Harding Steel develops high density storage rack solution for NYPD impound Lot near JFK International Airport.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) September 21, 2011

Harding Steel Inc., a company that has been manufacturing, installing and servicing world class parking lift systems since 1968, recently developed its first non-mechanical parking solution known as the High Density Vehicle Storage Rack System. The product's first installation, at the New York City Police Department's impound lot near JFK International Airport, provides space for storing 2,700 vehicles.

The High Density Vehicle Storage Rack System has been developed as a cost-effective solution for municipalities, salvage yards, and impound facilities that are faced with a problem of storing a large amount of vehicles that have been collected for extensive damage, police evidence, parking impound violations, abandonment, and automotive recycling operations. Vehicles do not need to be started for storage or retrieval.

The High Density Vehicle Storage Rack System design was derived from recreational marine storage facilities found all over the country. The steel racks are engineered and produced by Harding Steel and are paired with a forklift system to place vehicles onto the storage racks. The system utilizes basic structural steel (100 percent hot dipped galvanized) and has been structurally engineered specifically for storing vehicles.

System Benefits:

The Vehicle Storage Rack System units have been designed to accommodate a majority of vehicles used in the US market
Structurally engineered for long term use, seismic design
Engineered for varying slopes throughout the parking facility
Wide approach angle for fork lift trucks for vehicle placement
Installed on an "angular" or "herringbone" space layout to allow easy maneuverability for the fork lift operators and vehicles
Basic steel erection skills required for installation
No maintenance required, aside from periodic inspections
    No mechanical parts
No electrical or hydraulic power requirements
Available in two and three level models

The High Density Vehicle Storage Rack System is a custom product, and Harding Steel will work directly with the municipality or contractor on all aspects of design. Interested parties can contact Harding Steel President and COO Jim Myers at jim(at)hardingsteel(dot)com.
